Modern Hobby Strategy Games

Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization is a board game for two to four players, designed by Vlaada Chvatil and published by Czech Board Games in 2006. Its theme is the development of human civilization, and each player guides a civilization through progress in fields such as culture, government, leadership, religion and science. Play involves building urban buildings, governments, population, resource production and military strength by drawing and buying cards, taking each civilization through four ages from classical antiquity to the Modern Age. The game won several awards, including the International Gamers Awards in 2007 and Game of the Year in Poland in 2010, where it was published as Cywilizacja: Poprzez Wieki. An updated edition, Through the Ages: A New Story of Civilization, appeared in 2015, and app and Steam versions followed in 2017 and 2018.
