Murus Gallicus (game)

Displacement and Capture Games

Murus Gallicus is an abstract board game designed by Phil Leduc and dated 2009 by the Ludii game portal, which lists nestorgames as its publisher. Players build and move small stacks of stones: a single stone is a wall and a stack of two is a tower. On a turn a player either moves a tower by dividing its two stones into the two nearest cells in one direction, each destination cell being empty or holding a single friendly stone, or sacrifices one stone of a tower to remove an adjacent enemy wall, which is optional. A player wins immediately by reaching any cell of the opponent's home row, or by leaving the opponent with no legal move. The portal classes it as a board game of race and reach, and records two rulesets, Murus Galicus and Advanced Murus Galicus.
