Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures Game

Modern Conquest and War Games

The Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures Game is a collectible miniatures wargame produced by Wizards of the Coast, using pre-painted plastic figures in 30 millimeter scale depicting characters and monsters drawn from the Dungeons & Dragons setting. Rather than the narrative, single-character roleplay of the tabletop game it draws its imagery from, the Miniatures Game plays as a skirmish wargame in which two or more opponents pit collected armies of figures against each other, using streamlined rules built on the d20 system so no Dungeon Master is required. Victory is won either by destroying an opponent's figures or by controlling key areas of the battle map, emphasizing strategic army building and tactical positioning over storytelling. Wizards of the Coast released the line as 20 loosely themed sets roughly every four months, launching in 2003 and continuing until the line's cancellation in 2011.
