EuroFront

Modern Conquest and War Games

EuroFront, subtitled War in Europe, 1939-45, is a set of board wargame rules published by Columbia Games in 1995 that joins the earlier EastFront, WestFront and MedFront games into one two-player campaign covering the whole European theatre of the Second World War. It is not a standalone game: players must already own the three earlier titles, whose rules, maps and block counters are used together, and EuroFront adds a 40-page rulebook and a further 80 blocks for smaller nations such as the Dutch, Polish and Greek forces. Like other Columbia games it uses upright wooden or plastic blocks with stickers facing the owner, so the opponent sees only blank backs and a fog of war results. It needs about four by six feet of table, includes six scenarios each covering one year from 1939 to 1944, and layers a diplomatic game, in which countries such as the Soviet Union, Spain or Greece may enter the war, and a supply and reinforcement production system over the military rules. Craig Besinque designed it.
