Amazing Engine

Role-Playing Games

Amazing Engine was a series of tabletop role-playing game books published by TSR from 1993 until 1994, built on a generic system in which every book used the same minimalist rules from the Amazing Engine System Guide but offered an entirely different setting or genre. David Zeb Cook was credited with designing the rules. TSR launched it in 1993 after ending most of its other role-playing lines, including Gamma World and Marvel Super Heroes, as a simple system for beginners, and cancelled it after 1994, planning Alternity as its generic science fiction replacement. Characters have four core statistics that carry from book to book and generate ability scores, characteristics and skills, with percentile skill checks. Published worldbooks included Bughunters, Kromosome, Magitech, Tabloid and Metamorphosis Alpha to Omega.
