Thunder Road (board game)

Race Games

Thunder Road is a post-apocalyptic racing board game invented by Jim Keifer and first published by Milton Bradley in 1986, with illustration by Paul Alexander. It is also known as ThunderRoad and, in French, Le Survivant. Two to four players each command a team of vehicles chosen from four types, ranging from a modified dune buggy to a gyrocopter, and race them down an endless roadway. On a turn a player rolls three yellow dice and moves vehicles by the numbers rolled. A player or team wins either by being the last team with vehicles left, after eliminating the others, or by simply out-distancing the other teams. Hasbro owns the rights, having acquired Milton Bradley, and a modernized version, Thunder Road: Vendetta, was released in 2023 by Restoration Games. The infobox lists about 45 minutes of play for ages ten and up.
