The Mystic Wood

Race Games

The Mystic Wood is a fantasy adventure board game for two to four players, designed by Terence Peter Donnelly and dated 1980 on Board Game Matcher, with artwork by Kenn Nishiuye and Polly Wilson. Each player takes the part of a knight who seeks to complete a personal quest in a forest that is built from randomly placed tiles. Players explore by uncovering tiles that reveal spells and creatures, which can help or hinder progress, and a knight wins by finishing the quest and leaving the wood. Its listed mechanics are grid movement, modular board and race. A game lasts about an hour and the suggested age is twelve and over. The page lists publishers including Ariel Productions, Gibsons, H. P. Gibson and Sons, and The Avalon Hill Game Co.
