Pendragon (role-playing game)

Role-Playing Games

Pendragon, also called King Arthur Pendragon, is a tabletop role-playing game in which players take the part of knights performing chivalric deeds in the tradition of Arthurian legend. Greg Stafford wrote it and Chaosium published it in 1985, and rights later passed through Green Knight Publishing, White Wolf Publishing and Nocturnal Media before the game returned to Chaosium in 2018. Its literary basis is the fifteenth-century romance Le Morte d'Arthur, so typical adventures are political struggles, military clashes or holy quests rather than dungeon crawls. Between adventures characters manage estates, marry, age and have children, and a campaign may span generations as players take the roles of heirs. The rules are loosely based on the Basic Role-Playing system and centre on personality traits and passions.
