Lands of Adventure is a role-playing game published by Fantasy Games Unlimited in 1983. Although similar to fantasy role-playing games in scope, its suggested setting is historical rather than pure fantasy. It was designed by Lee Gold with a cover by Bill Willingham and sold as a boxed set containing a 32-page rulebook, a 28-page Culture Pack, a sample character record sheet and dice. The rules are generic rather than tied to a specific game, and two Culture Packs give details of historical settings, mythic Greece and medieval England. Emphasis falls on human player characters who advance by improving chosen skills, and magic is divided into types matching character abilities. The publisher planned further Culture Packs for other eras, but the game went out of print before that could happen. Critics praised the Culture Pack material more than the rules themselves.
