Heroes of Olympus (role-playing game)

Role-Playing Games

Heroes of Olympus is a fantasy role-playing game written by B. Dennis Sustare and published by Task Force Games in 1981, set in the heroic age of ancient Greece. Player characters are Argonauts serving in the crew of Jason, who can be chosen pregenerated or built with a point-based character generation system. The game is meant to combine elements of role-playing games, board games and wargames, and its rules cover character improvement, combat including trickery, sailing, magic, nonhuman races and the gods, with advice on running a campaign. The set includes four adventure scenarios, each with a colour map, including the Golden Fleece and encounters with the Harpies and the Clashing Rocks. The first edition was an orange boxed set with a 56-page book, five maps, two counter sheets and dice, and a second edition followed in 1983 with metal miniatures. Shannon Appelcline calls it the first of Task Force Games' pseudo-RPGs.
