Escape from Atlantis is a board game about the sinking of the island of Atlantis and its people's attempts to flee. Invented by Julian Courtland-Smith, it was first published in English by Parker Brothers in 1982 under the title Survive! The centre of the board is a stack of 37 molded hexagon tiles in rings of beach, forest and mountain, which gives the board a partly three-dimensional look. Each player controls a tribe of wooden villagers and tries to carry ten of them to safety on the coral islands in the corners, on foot, swimming, by boat or on the backs of dolphins, while sharks, giant squid and sea serpents threaten them. On each turn a player moves villagers, sinks one tile and then moves the sea creatures, so the island steadily disappears. Waddingtons issued a three-dimensional version in 1986, Stronghold Games reprinted it in 2011 as Survive: Escape from Atlantis!, and world sales exceed 1.25 million units.
