Empires in Arms is a grand strategy wargame about the Napoleonic Wars, first published in 1983. Designed by Greg Pinder and Harry Rowland and issued by Australian Design Group and later Avalon Hill, it lets two to seven players command the major European powers of the era. Players negotiate alliances, conduct warfare across land and sea, and manage the economy of their nation, so diplomacy and finance matter as much as battle. The full campaign runs for 132 turns covering the years 1805 to 1815, and shorter scenarios are available for groups that cannot commit to a campaign. Area movement, dice rolling and movement points drive the military side of play.
