Conquest of the Empire

Military strategy board game

Conquest of the Empire is a military strategy board game for two to six players set in the Roman Empire after the death of the emperor Marcus Aurelius, in which rival generals raise armies and fight for control of Rome. It was originally designed by Larry Harris in 1982 under the title VI Caesars and released in revised form by Milton Bradley in 1984 as part of its Gamemaster Series, the same line that produced Harris's better known design Axis and Allies. A redesigned edition, reworked by Glenn Drover and Martin Wallace, was published by Eagle Games in 2005 with updated components and rules. Players raise legions, build roads and fleets, and battle across a map of the ancient Mediterranean world, with the game rewarding both military strength and economic expansion.
