BattleForce

Board wargame

BattleForce is a board wargame created by FASA Corporation and set within its BattleTech universe, designed by L. Ross Babcock III, Cory Glaberson and Jordan Weisman and first published in 1987. It was built to let players fight much larger battles than the core BattleTech game supports, since a standard game represents individual lances of vehicles and BattleMechs while BattleForce lets a single unit stand in for a company, battalion or larger formation. This higher level of abstraction addressed a practical problem with the base game, which became too time consuming to finish once a battle grew beyond a small number of units per side. BattleForce supports two to twenty players and a range of unit types including BattleMechs, ground vehicles and air vehicles, with a typical playing time cited at around 120 minutes.
