Ace of Aces (video game)

Dexterity and Physical Skill Games

Ace of Aces is a combat flight simulation video game published in 1986 by Accolade in North America and by U.S. Gold in Europe, with development credited to Artech Digital Entertainment. It was released for the Amstrad CPC, Atari 8-bit computers, Atari 7800, Commodore 64, MSX, MS-DOS, Master System and ZX Spectrum, and in 1988 Atari Corporation issued a cartridge version for the Atari XEGS. The setting is the Second World War: the player flies an RAF Mosquito long range fighter-bomber armed with rockets, bombs and a cannon, on missions to destroy German fighters, bombers, V-1 flying bombs, U-boats and trains. The aircraft starts already airborne, so no takeoff or landing is needed, and points are scored for enemies shot down and for unused fuel and ordnance. Reviews were mixed, yet it became one of the best-selling Commodore 64 games Accolade published, with about 100,000 copies sold.
