Metamorphosis Alpha is one of the first science fiction role-playing games, published in 1976. It was created by James M. Ward and originally produced by TSR, the publisher of Dungeons & Dragons. By its publication date it belongs to the earliest generation of the form, and its science fiction subject set it apart from the fantasy games that the same publisher was known for.
