Game of the Generals

Modern Conquest and War Games

Game of the Generals, also known as GG, GOG or simply The Generals, is an educational war game invented in the Philippines by Sofronio H. Pasola Jr. in 1970, and its Filipino name is Salpakan. A game takes twenty to thirty minutes. Two players each command an army while a neutral arbiter rules on challenges between opposing pieces, whose identities are hidden from the opponent, so each side must guess at what it faces from position, movement and the results of challenges. The hidden identities simulate the fog of war, and the game rewards logic, memory and spatial skill. It resembles the earlier games L'Attaque and Stratego.
