Arms Race (game)

Modern Conquest and War Games

Arms Race subtitled Simulation of Global War and Strategic Building 1950-2001 is a board wargame designed by Dave Casciano and published by the Attack Wargaming Association in 1976 for two to four players, with the base game pitting the United States against the Soviet Union and optional rules adding China and Nazi Germany. Play spans 1950 to 2001 as players deploy conventional or nuclear weapons and land sea and air forces, and may invest resources in guerrilla operations, espionage, political interference, transportation infrastructure or economic assistance to contested neutral nations. In a 1980 Ares magazine poll ranking seventy science fiction games it placed sixty fifth, with reviewers noting an interesting core concept undercut by unclear rulebooks poor component quality and an unattractive map.
