Battle-Cry (Milton Bradley game)

Modern Conquest and War Games

Battle-Cry is a combat board game set during the American Civil War, published by the Milton Bradley Company in 1961 as part of its American Heritage series of historical games aimed at a mass-market audience. Also released under the alternate title Game of the Civil War, it lets two to four players command Union and Confederate forces across a series of scenarios, with illustrations by James Walker contributing to the game's distinctive period look. Designed for players roughly ten years and older and playable in about an hour, Battle-Cry was part of a wave of accessible, mass-produced historical conflict games that introduced many younger players to wargaming conventions such as unit movement, terrain and combat resolution long before the hobby wargame boom of later decades.
