Munchkin (card game)

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

Munchkin is a satirical card game from Steve Jackson, dated 2001 on its Board Game Matcher page, that parodies dungeon crawlers and fantasy role-playing games. Each player races to reach level 10 by killing monsters, picking up magic items and character classes, and undermining rivals along the way. The page describes play as fast, with heavy player interaction and constant disruption of other players plans, and lists mechanics such as hand management, race, take that and variable player powers. The details panel gives three to six players, about 120 minutes of play, a very light weight rating of 1.8 and a minimum age of ten, while the short blurb says two to six players. Its categories are card game, fantasy, fighting and humor.
