Tribe 8 (role-playing game)

Role-Playing Games

Tribe 8 is a fantasy and post-apocalyptic tabletop role-playing game designed by Philippe R. Boulle, Stephane Brochu and Joshua Mosqueira-Asheim, with visuals by Ghislain Barbe. The Canadian publisher Dream Pod 9 first released it in 1998, a departure from its mostly mecha-based hard science fiction line, and it became the company's top-selling role-playing game from 1999 to 2001. A second edition followed in 2004. The setting is Vimary, a post-apocalyptic Montreal, Quebec, where demonic Z'bri were driven back by humanity's tribes after the fall of the World Before. Player characters are usually the Fallen, exiles from the tribes who live on the island of Hom, today Ile Sainte-Helene, and who hope to found an eighth tribe. A strong metaplot explores spirituality, horror and the cost of hope, and the tribes are led by the Fatimas, avatars of the One Goddess.
