Quirks (board game)

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

Quirks is a card-driven board game dated 1980 by its Board Game Matcher listing, designed by Bill Eberle, Jack Kittredge and Peter Olotka. Players build strange plants, herbivores and carnivores by combining cards that each show one of three body segments, and each card carries a distinctive quirk that may give a bonus. The aim is to create the dominant species of each kind for the current climate, which changes between ocean, forest, plains, desert and jungle, and to be first to make three dominant quirks. A player whose three quirks go extinct loses. Rules for solitaire play are included, the standard game suits two to four players, and a simplified version called Quirklings serves children aged seven to eleven.
