Europa is a series of board wargames intended to cover the whole European theater of the Second World War, with units ranging from divisions down to battalions and each game turn standing for two weeks. The series began in 1973 and had more than a dozen titles by 2013. Most of the titles count as monster games, a wargame subgenre marked by very large orders of battle, complex rules and big maps with detailed terrain. Four publishers have produced it in turn: Game Designers Workshop from 1973 to 1987, Game Research/Design from 1989 to 2000, Mill Creek Ventures from 2001 to 2003 and Historical Military Services from 2004. A supporting line of newsletters and magazines grew up around it, beginning with The Europa Newsletter in the 1970s, and the intellectual property later passed to a nonprofit foundation incorporated in Illinois in 2026.
