Advance to Boardwalk

Board game

Advance to Boardwalk is a 1985 board game published jointly by Parker Brothers and Winning Moves as a spin-off of Monopoly, keeping the Atlantic City real estate theme but narrowing its focus to the Boardwalk area of the classic board. Play differs from ordinary Monopoly: on a turn a player rolls two standard six-sided dice plus a special colored die that sets both how much money is available to spend and which color group of lots may be developed, and rather than buying whole properties outright, players construct individual hotel floors on the available lots, up to as many floors as the roll allows, and can even take over a rival's hotel by building more floors onto it than the rival has. Fortune Cards add further swings through construction bonuses and other random events, and the first player whose hotel holdings reach thirty-five million dollars in value wins the game.
