Codenames (board game)

Party and Word Games

Codenames is a party board game designed by Vlaada Chvatil and published by Czech Games Edition in 2015. Two teams compete, each with a spymaster who gives one-word clues pointing at specific words laid out on the board. The rest of each team must guess the words belonging to their own side while avoiding the other teams words and an assassin square. If a team selects the assassin, that team loses at once, and otherwise victory goes to the first team to guess all of its spymasters assigned words. The game received positive reviews and won many awards, including the 2016 Spiel des Jahres award for best board game of the year.
