Bloodshadows

Role-Playing Games

Bloodshadows is a campaign setting for role-playing games, published originally in 1994 by West End Games as the first setting book for the company's generic MasterBook rules engine. It is set on the world of Marl, a blend of dark fantasy, urban fantasy and pulp fiction drawing on Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Burroughs and the hard-boiled noir of Hammett and Chandler, with early twentieth century industrial technology mixed with magic. The factions of Order, Chaos and the Oathbreakers contest the world, and characters are either humans or Unnaturals such as spirits, undead, demons and shape-shifters. Precis Intermedia reprinted it in 2011 and published a reworked version in 2016, and a Savage Worlds edition followed in 2022.
