Barbarossa is a deck-building card game first released in Japan in 2010 by the publisher Arclight Games. It is set in an alternate history of the Eastern Front of the Second World War, in which the German and Soviet forces, along with leaders and vehicles, appear as anime-styled characters. Players take the part of the German army and race to capture Moscow. As in Dominion, each player builds a personal deck by acquiring new cards, but the combat rules are different: army cards supply Attack Points, which are spent to capture objective cards that pay Victory Points. Once per turn a player may declare an attack, and attacks on major cities draw an event card from a shared deck that can raise the target. The game ends when a player captures the last major city, Moscow. An English edition followed in North America in 2012, a sequel named El Alamein set in North Africa appeared in 2016, and later editions replaced the anime art with historical photographs.
