Babette is a solitaire patience game played with two standard decks of playing cards shuffled together, placing it in the same family as the better known Labyrinth patience. Eight cards are dealt out in a row to start eight tableau columns, and the object is to build a full set of foundations, one ace and one king of each suit, with the aces built upward in rank and the kings built downward. Cards already dealt into the columns may only be moved onto a foundation pile; there is no building one tableau card onto another, and any gap left by a removed card stays empty rather than being refilled. When no more foundation moves are possible, another eight cards are dealt on top of the existing columns, and this cycle repeats until the stock of both decks is exhausted. The rules allow exactly one redeal, gathering the columns from left to right and dealing them out again, and the game is won only if every one of the 104 cards from both decks eventually reaches a foundation pile.
