Air War (game)

Modern Conquest and War Games

Air War, subtitled Modern Tactical Air Combat, is a board wargame published in 1977 by Simulations Publications, Inc. designed by David C. Isby with artwork by Redmond A. Simonsen. The game simulates aerial combat of the 1970s era and became known among wargaming enthusiasts for its extreme complexity, featuring roughly seven hundred counters, rulebooks exceeding sixty pages, detailed charts and eight large hexagonal maps. Players control individual fighter aircraft across ten scenarios, with each game turn representing just two and a half seconds of actual combat time, and the title earned a lasting reputation as one of the most elaborate simulations ever produced for the board gaming hobby.
