A Game of Thrones: The Card Game is an out-of-print card game created by Fantasy Flight Games, first released in August 2002 with its Westeros Edition base set as a collectible card game. Eric M. Lang served as primary designer, with Nate French as lead developer and Damon Stone as associate designer, and the game draws its houses, characters and politics from George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels. Players take command of one of the great houses of Westeros and compete to seize and hold King's Landing and the Iron Throne through military campaigns, intrigue and political maneuvering rather than direct combat alone. Fantasy Flight converted the game from its original collectible format to a Living Card Game model in late 2007, meaning new cards came in fixed, non-random expansions, and later published a second edition Living Card Game in 2015. The original collectible card game line eventually stopped production and is no longer printed.
