Drop dead (dice game)

Drop dead is a North American dice game for any number of players, using five dice and a sheet of paper to track scores. On a turn, a player rolls all five dice; if the roll contains no twos or fives, every die's value is added to that player's running score for the turn. Whenever a two or a five does come up, those dice are set aside and removed from all of the player's further rolls in that turn, but nothing is added to the score for that roll. The player keeps rolling the dice still in play until none remain, at which point they drop dead and their turn ends and passes on. The game is documented as early as Robert Frederick Foster's 1922 reference work Foster's Complete Hoyle, and its simple elimination structure has since made it a standard worked example in probability texts, including Henk Tijms' Understanding Probability.
