Cosmic Wimpout

Games of Chance

Cosmic Wimpout is a dice game produced by C3, Inc in 1976. It belongs to the same family of push-your-luck dice games as 1000/5000/10000, Farkle, Greed, Hot Dice, Squelch and Zilch. Play uses five custom dice, four showing two swirls, three triangular glyphs, four lightning bolts, the number 5, six stars and the number 10, with a fifth, often differently colored, die replacing the triangular glyphs with a flaming sun. Fives and tens score 5 and 10 points, three-of-a-kind combinations called flashes score ten times the face value, and five-of-a-kind rolls called freight trains score 100 times the face value. On each turn a player sets aside scoring dice and either banks the accumulated points or rolls the remaining dice again for more; rolling all five dice without scoring anything is a train wreck that loses all points from that round. A full round takes about a minute to set up and roughly 20 minutes to play.
