Parcheesi

Parcheesi is a commercial American board game in which players race a set of tokens around a cross-shaped track from their home base to a central finish space, moving according to dice rolls and capturing opposing tokens along the way. It is a direct commercial adaptation of the traditional Indian game Pachisi, adapted and trademarked for the American market beginning in the late nineteenth century, most notably by Selchow and Righter. The game established the now-familiar cross-track, dice-and-capture format that later influenced many other commercial race games, including Sorry! and Ludo.
