Trumped Up Cards

Party and Word Games

Trumped Up Cards is a party card game created by entrepreneur Reid Hoffman and released in September 2016, built directly on the fill-in-the-blank and match-the-prompt structure of Cards Against Humanity but aimed squarely at satirizing Donald Trump, who was then a presidential candidate. The game is designed for four to eight players aged eighteen and up, playing rounds in which participants submit cards to a rotating judge in response to a prompt, following the same basic format as the game it parodies. Its topical satire drew mainstream press coverage at the time of release, including attention from The New York Times and USA Today, and the game was featured in a segment on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. Rather than being sold as a conventional retail product, Trumped Up Cards was distributed online and released under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 license, allowing people to print and assemble their own copies of the game for free.
