Scruples (game)

Party and Word Games

A Question of Scruples, generally known as Scruples, is a card game based on ethical dilemmas. It was invented by Henry Makow in 1984 and developed by High Game Enterprises. Each player holds five yellow cards, each carrying a moral dilemma such as whether to leave a note with your name and number after damaging a car in a parking lot, and a single red card reading YES, NO or DEPENDS. A player asks the question on a yellow card of the person they believe most likely to give the answer on the red card, so the game tests how well players know each other. A match discards both cards, and the first player to discard all five yellow cards wins. Makow first marketed the game in Canada in 1984, and after it was licensed to Hasbro it sold over seven million copies worldwide and was translated into five languages.
