Chez Geek

Chez Geek is a card game published by Steve Jackson Games that parodies geek culture and the shared living situations of roommates. Designed by Jon Darbro and developed by Alain H. Dawson, with additional contributions from Steve Jackson and Russell Godwin and card and rulebook illustration by John Kovalic, the game casts its two to five players as roommates competing to build up the most Slack, a resource earned by inviting people over, buying items and engaging in idle geeky activities instead of doing anything productive. A base game takes about five minutes to set up and around forty-five minutes to play, and it is recommended for players eighteen and up given its subject matter. Chez Geek won the Origins Award for Best Traditional Card Game in 1999, and its success led to several expansion sets that extend the base roster of roommates, activities and Slack-earning schemes players can pursue.
