Bezzerwizzer is a trivia board game designed by the Danish game designer Jesper Bulow and first published in Denmark in 2006. Its name plays on the German word Besserwisser, meaning know-it-all, and the game is built around a mix of trivia knowledge, tactical placement, and a degree of trickery among two to four competing teams. Players draw and answer trivia questions spanning twenty different subject categories, and rather than simply scoring points immediately upon answering, each team must strategically place its answered questions onto its own game board according to how confident it is in that answer, since correctly placed answers in higher-difficulty positions earn larger rewards while a wrong guess in an ambitious position costs a team more than a cautious placement would have risked. This placement mechanic distinguishes Bezzerwizzer from a straightforward trivia quiz by adding a genuine strategic decision, weighing confidence against risk, on top of the underlying general-knowledge contest between teams.
