Balderdash is a board game variant of the parlour game Fictionary, also known as the Dictionary Game, created by Laura Robinson and Paul Toyne of Toronto, Ontario, and first released in 1984 by the Canada Games Company. In each round one player, the dasher, reveals an obscure word's genuine dictionary definition to themselves while the other players secretly write invented definitions meant to sound authentic; all definitions, including the real one, are then read aloud and players score points for guessing the true definition or for fooling opponents into picking their invented one. Movement around the game board is used to track and award these points until a player's token reaches the finish line.
