Are You a Werewolf?

Are You a Werewolf? is a party game published by Looney Labs that adapts the social deduction structure of the Russian parlor game Mafia into a werewolf-themed setting. Players are secretly assigned hidden roles, most as ordinary villagers and a smaller number as werewolves, and the game alternates between a nighttime phase, in which the werewolves silently select a victim, and a daytime phase, in which the surviving villagers debate and vote to eliminate a suspected werewolf. The game needs no specialized equipment beyond a standard deck of playing cards to represent the roles, though Looney Labs also sells a dedicated card deck for the purpose. It is designed for groups of five or more players, with the publisher recommending ten or more for the fullest experience, since the format depends on a large enough pool of villagers and werewolves for accusation and bluffing to feel meaningful. The game's mix of hidden information, group deduction and social persuasion has made it a foundational example of the modern social deduction party game genre and a direct ancestor of many later werewolf and Mafia-style games.
