Bosworth (game)

Bosworth is a four-handed chess variant that has been manufactured by Out of the Box Publishing since 1998. It is played on a six-by-six board using four full sets of standard chess pieces, one for each of up to four players, who are distinguished by colored tokens rather than the traditional black-and-white scheme. The game carries humorous, brightly colored artwork by cartoonist John Kovalic, known for the Dork Tower comic series, which gives the otherwise chess-based game a lighter, more casual presentation than orthodox chess. By compressing the normal eight-by-eight board down to six squares per side and adding two extra players competing simultaneously, Bosworth turns a traditionally two-player abstract strategy game into a faster, more chaotic multiplayer contest while keeping chess's underlying piece movement rules intact.
