Tanzanian draughts

Tanzanian draughts, known locally as Drafti in Swahili, is a variant of the board game draughts, called checkers in North America, played in Tanzania on an eight by eight board of alternating colored squares. It adopts the starting piece arrangement used in American checkers and Russian draughts, and it combines ordinary American style captures with the flying king movement rule found in Russian and international draughts, allowing a crowned piece to move and capture across multiple empty squares in one line. Unlike Czech draughts, a close relative, Tanzanian draughts does not require a player holding a king to give capture priority over an ordinary piece. The game is played by two people, involves no element of chance, and a typical game is reported to last around seven minutes.
