Gasing pangkah

Gasing pangkah is a competitive Malay game of spinning tops with origins in Malaysia, where it is regarded as part of Malay state heritage and is kept alive today through official tournaments intended to introduce younger generations to the tradition. In the game, several players spin their own wooden tops within a marked circle and compete to be the last one still spinning; a player can win by causing an opponent's top to be knocked clear out of the circle or by making it topple over and stop. Beyond Malaysia, gasing pangkah is also played in neighboring Brunei, where its cross-border cultural standing was highlighted in 2013 when a tournament was staged as part of the celebrations for the Sultan of Brunei's 67th birthday. As a traditional skill game rather than a modern invention, it survives largely through community and state-organized competitions rather than commercial publication.
