Banana rib hobbyhorse riding, known in Thai as khi ma kan kluai, is a Thai game for children that uses a banana rib as a toy horse. The game incorporates a banana rib because banana trees are found easily in Thai neighborhoods. To make the horse, one banana rib about a meter long is cut from the tree and a banana leaf tip is carved off with a sharp knife, and this becomes part of the horse's body, with the banana leaf at the end of the rib forming the horse's tail. Players then cut a rope to a suitable length and tie it at the head and at the tail to make a belt that goes over the shoulders.
