Twister is a physical party game played on a large plastic mat printed with four rows of colored circles, in which a spinner directs players to place a specified hand or foot on a circle of a specified color, with players eliminated when they fall or otherwise touch the mat with any other part of their body. It was created in the mid-1960s and released by Milton Bradley in 1966, becoming notable at the time as one of the first games to use players' own bodies as playing pieces, and it gained significant early publicity from a televised appearance during its launch year.
