Hopscotch

Hopscotch is a playground game in which a player tosses a small marker onto a numbered grid chalked or drawn on the ground and then hops through the grid on one or two feet, skipping the square holding the marker, before retrieving it on the way back. Versions of the game are documented across many countries and cultures under different names and grid shapes, and its exact origin is not precisely dated, though children's hopping-and-tossing games of this general kind are known from centuries past in Europe. It remains one of the most widespread traditional children's games in the world, requiring no equipment beyond a marker and a drawn grid.
