Amber chess tournament

Mind Sport World Championships

The Amber chess tournament, officially the Amber Rapid and Blindfold Chess Tournament and previously called Melody Amber, was an annual invitation-only event for some of the world's best players, held from 1992 to 2011. From its second edition it uniquely combined blindfold chess with speed chess, and it was held in Monte Carlo. It was sponsored by the Dutch businessman Joop van Oosterom, a world champion of correspondence chess, and named after his daughter. Vladimir Kramnik won the most overall titles with six, and Viswanathan Anand is the only player to win both the rapid and blindfold events in one year, doing so in 1997 and 2005.
