Ivan Patzaichin was a Romanian sprint canoeist and later canoe racing coach who competed in every major competition between 1968 and 1984, including five consecutive Olympic Games. He won seven Olympic medals, four of them gold, along with twenty two world championship medals, making him the most decorated Romanian canoeist of all time.
