Haile Gebrselassie is an Ethiopian former long-distance runner who dominated distance running through the 1990s and 2000s. He won Olympic gold in the 10,000 meters in 1996 and 2000, set numerous world records across distances from 5,000 meters to the marathon, and became one of the most successful and popular athletes in Ethiopian sporting history before moving into business and athletics administration after retiring.
