Lee Sedol is a South Korean former professional Go player who held a 9 dan rank and was, as of February 2016, the second most decorated player in the games history with 18 international titles, behind only Lee Chang-ho. He is best known outside Go circles for a five game match in March 2016 against DeepMinds AlphaGo program, which he lost 1-4, a result widely seen as a landmark moment for artificial intelligence. He was nicknamed the Strong Stone.
