Kato Masao, also known as Kato Kensei, was a Japanese professional Go player and one of the game's so called late bloomers, rising to the sport's highest ranks only after a slower start than most of his rivals. He won forty six titles over his career, including the Oza title eight times in a row, and became the second player ever to reach 1,200 career wins, behind only Rin Kaiho.
